Neurotoxin Injections

Pre Treatment:

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from the injections will take approximately 4 to 7 days to appear. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.

  • Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area.

  • Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

  • Ensure you eat a meal within 3 hours before your appointment. Do not come to your appointment fasting.

Post Treatment:

Post-treatment, for the next 4 hours do not:

  • Bend forward (squat instead).

  • Lay down.

  • Shower.

  • Work out (no strenuous activity for 24 hours).

  • Wash your face.

  • Pull anything over your head (e.g. a hoodie).

  • Wear a hat or headband around the forehead.

  • Apply makeup.


Dermal Fillers

Pre Treatment:

  • No massaging / hard pressure on the injected area(s), especially lips.

  • No make up on the injected area(s) for the rest of the day.

  • No strenuous activity for 24 hours.

  • Avoid alcohol, advil and blood thinners the night of.

  • Avoid smoking.

  • Avoid straws after lip injections.

Expect tenderness, itching, swelling and potential bruising to the injected area(s). If you have serious pain, contact the nurse immediately. Swelling can be temporarily asymmetrical, this is normal.


RF Microneedling

Pre-Treatment Tips:

• Keep hydrated by drinking water (at least eight cups daily) or hydrating fluids to improve treatment outcomes.

• Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours in advance of treatment.

• For three to seven days prior to treatment, at the physician’s discretion, avoid therapies that may cause erythema (redness) or irritation, such as retinol or products containing isotretinoin and any exfoliating acid preparations.

• Shave visible hair from the treatment area.

• Male beards should be shaved on the day of treatment.

• Do not scrub or exfoliate the skin.

• Wash the area with warm water and a mild cleanser.

• Come to your appointment without makeup on

  • Ensure you eat a meal within 3 hours before your appointment. Do not come to your appointment fasting.

Post Treatment:

• Do not scrub or exfoliate the skin.

• Wash the area with warm water and a mild cleanser.

• Do not apply liquid makeup for 24 hours; mineral makeup is acceptable after the erythema resolves.

• If erythema after treatment persists, use an ice pack (or frozen peas) at home, but always use a protective barrier, such as a face cloth, between the skin and the ice pack.

• Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face: there are micropathways opened into the dermis and hands will introduce bacteria.

• If skin feels tight or dry, apply moisturizing cream frequently.

• If permitted by your doctor you a hydrocortisone cream to treat irritation.

• If you currently have skin breakouts, you may find that the condition may temporarily worsen due to inflammation or edema.

Do not pick at treated tissue: doing so may result in hyper- or hypopigmentation.

• Avoid ultraviolet rays and apply sunblock >30 SPF UV A/B daily.

• Avoid alcohol consumption if possible.

• For 24 hours, refrain from high-intensity aerobic exercise or activities that increase the body temperature like saunas, hot tubs, steam showers or exercise (i.e. jogging, weight training, kickboxing, etc.).

• Call your practitioner if any problems develop: concerns regarding rash, itching, erythema, etc., for more than 24 hours.


PRP Hair Treatment

Pre Treatment:

  • Wash your hair as you normally would with regular shampoo, but do not use conditioner.

  • Avoid the application of sprays, gel or any styling products to your hair or scalp.

  • Please have breakfast/lunch as usual and try to drink at least 16 ounces of water at least 2-3 hours before your treatment.

Post Treatment:

  • Avoid the sun to your face and scalp for 72 hours after your treatment.

  • Use a clean pillowcase the night after your treatment.

  • Avoid blood thinners such as alcohol and NSAIDS the night after your treatment. You can take Tylenol.

  • Avoid smoking.

  • Results take two to three weeks to show and most individuals require three to four sessions for optimal, long-lasting results.


Sculptra

Pre Treatment:

  • Avoid the use of Aspirin, NSAIDS, Ginko Biloba, Garlic Supplements, Green Tea, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for up to 1-week pre and post-injection as they will increase your risk of bruising.

  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid extra bruising.

  • You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to your injection to reduce the risk of bruising.

  • Do not apply products that are potentially irritating for 2 -3 days before and after treatment (tretinoin/retinol, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone). You can resume use 1-week post-treatment.

  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.

  • Do not wear makeup to your appointment.

  • Ensure you eat a meal within 3 hours before your appointment. Do not come to your appointment fasting.

Post Treatment:

  • You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness/discomfort.

  • Massage the areas 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for 5 days after treatment.

  • Ice (but avoid firm pressure) for 15 minutes 3 times the day of treatment.

  • Avoid extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Apply SPF.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to reduce bruising.

  • Avoid laser, IPL, or skin tightening treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks.



Chemical Peels

Pre Treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and discontinue tanning 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Do not receive this treatment if you are sunburned.

  • No waxing, laser, or IPL 1 week prior to your appointment

  • Discontinue the use of Retinol, Tretinoin, and high percentage AHA/BHA products 7-10 days prior to your treatment.

  • Do not exfoliate physically or chemically 7 days prior to your appointment

Post Treatment:

  • On the day of treatment, the peel solution should stay on for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight. During that time do not rub, touch, wash or apply makeup to the treated areas.

  • Avoid sun exposure and apply SPF liberally

  • Do not engage in aerobic exercises or any activities that may cause sweating

  • Do not use saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, or spend time in hot weather.

  • 3-4 days post peel you may experience mild to moderate flaking and sloughing.

  • When washing and applying moisturizer/SPF use a gentle dabbing motion.

  • If irritation or rash occurs contact your provider


Dermaplaning

Pre Treatment:

  • Avoid over exfoliation

  • Do not wax 7 days before treatment

  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.

Post Treatment:

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 3 days

  • Avoid extreme heat for 3 days

  • Do not use scrubs or other exfoliators for 1 week

  • Avoid chlorine for 1 week

  • Apply serums and moisturizers

  • Use sunscreen daily

Chin Lip Dissolvent

-Deoxycholic Acid-

Pre Treatment:

  • If you have a special event or vacation coming up, please keep in mind that you may want to schedule your treatment at least two weeks in advance. Swelling will occur. It is the body's natural, healthy response to go through an inflammation process to remove the fat cells from the body.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high-sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, and spicy foods 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.

  • If you develop a cold/flu, infection, blemish, rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.

  • Ensure you eat a meal within 3 hours before your appointment. Do not come to your appointment fasting.

Post Treatment

  • Place a cold compress or ice pack on the area for 20 minutes and remove the cold compress or ice pack for 20 minutes. Continue this pattern as needed for 24 hours.

  • Use Arnica to help decrease bruising, swelling, and discomfort.

  • Take (over-the-counter) acetaminophen if needed to decrease post-treatment discomfort.

  • Sleep on your back and with your head elevated for the next 3-5 days after treatment.

  • Drink plenty of water and fluids after treatment.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, and sun and heat exposure for 3-5 days after treatment.

  • Avoid steroids (prednisone), NSAIDs (Motrin, Aleve, etc), alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high-sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, and spicy foods 24-48 hours after your treatment.

  • Please report to your practitioner immediately if you develop an asymmetric smile or facial muscle weakness, skin ulceration in the treatment area, difficulty swallowing, or if any existing symptom worsens. These are very rare. Please communicate with us.

Bela MD

Pre Treatment:

  • Do not use Accutane (acne medication) for at least 6 months before treatment.

  • Discontinue the use of any topical AHA’s (Retinol, vitamin A) for at least 3-5 days prior to your treatment.

  • Avoid the use of depilatories, waxing or any product or treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to your treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure or the use of tanning beds at least 14 days prior to your treatment.

  • Wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF30 at all times when outdoors. Please note sunburned skin cannot be treated

  • .Please ensure that you have not had any injectables; neurotoxins or fillers, for at least two weeks prior to treatment.

  • If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, you may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment.

  • Some medications or supplements may increase sensitivity.

  • It is your responsibility to notify our office and/or your technician of any changes to your medications and health.

Post Treatment:

  • Your skin may have a slight rosy glow for approximately 24-48 hours after treatment.

  • You may also feel like you have a mild sunburn if your skin is extremely sensitive.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 1-2 days after your treatment. Use a sunscreen every day that blocks both UVA and UVB rays

  • Avoid any irritants such as products containing bleaching creams, Retin A, Retinol, glycolic/salicylic acids or astringents for at least 1 week after your treatment.

  • Avoid submerging the area treated in a chlorinated pool or hot tub for the next 3-5 days.

  • Do not pick or pull any loosening or peeling skin. This could potentially cause scarring or hyperpigmentation.

  • You may or may not experience peeling and flaking of the outer, dead layer of skin within the first few days after your treatment, this is normal.

  • Acne may temporarily look worse after the first treatment but will improve after additional treatments.

  • Your technician will recommend post-treatment skin care products for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Laser Hair Removal

Pre Treatment:

  • Shave within 24 hours before treatment.

  • Do not pluck or wax

  • Do not use Accutane (acne medication) for at least 6 months before treatment.

  • Do not exfoliate the treatment area

  • Patients should avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, sunless tanning lotions and tanning creams before, during and after treatment.

  • A broad-spectrum sun block (UVA/UVB) and SPF 30 or greater should be applied to the treatment area before any sun exposure.

  • Prior to receiving laser treatment, patients with a history of herpes or cold sores should receive appropriate treatment.

  • Do not come in with makeup or self tanner on the treatment area

Post Treatment:

  • Your skin may have a slightly rosy glow for approximately 24-48 hours after treatment.

  • Apply ointment to prevent drying or crusting and to soothe the skin. If a crust develops, allow it to fall off naturally.

  • Avoid hot baths or whirlpools for one week following treatment.

  • If blistering or crusting occurs, do not shave for 1 to 3 days.

  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, sunless tanning lotions and tanning creams before, during and after treatment. A broad-spectrum sun block (UVA/UVB) and SPF 30 or greater should be applied to the treatment area before any sun exposure.

  • Avoid exercises that can cause vasodilatation for one-week post-treatment.

  • If makeup is allowed, it must be applied and removed delicately. Excess rubbing can open the area and increase the chance of scarring.

  • Discomfort, such as swelling or redness (lasting from a few hours to a couple of days), can be relieved with acetaminophen or ice packs.

  • Contact the clinic if there is any sign of blistering or infection (redness, tenderness or pus).
